Hotdogs, wine, and outhouses! Ambers News Briefs October 1st 2023
What do hotdogs, wine, and outhouses have in common? No, not a family reunion gone bad, they’re all a part of this week’s News Briefs.
You may recall back in May the Kraft Heinz Company made a surprising announcement.
After 87 years they were changing the name of one of their most beloved icols.
Their Weinermobile would now be known as the Frankmobile.
The name change was meant to pay homage to the brand’s 100% beef franks and their new recipe. They made the announcement via instragram by saying “It’s been a franktastic summer!” “But like you, we missed this BUNderful icon. Help us welcome back the Wienermobile!”
I’m glad they mustered up courage to catchup with the obvious public opinion.
What could possibly be your worse fear? Losing a thousand dollar Apple Watch
or perhaps getting stuck in an outhouse toilet?
What if both happened to you at the same time?
A woman was rescued from an outhouse toilet in northern Michigan after she climbed in to retrieve her Apple Watch and became trapped.
The woman, whose name was not released, lowered herself inside the toilet after dropping the watch at the Department of Natural Resources boat launch.
First responders were called when the woman was heard yelling for help. The toilet was removed and a strap was used to haul the woman out.
It was not reported if the woman suffered injuries or if the watch was recovered, however, the State Police commented, “If you lose an item in an outhouse toilet, do not attempt to venture inside the containment area. Serious injury may occur.”
No, that’s not the result of an outhouse being tipped over. That is 2.2 million liters of wine that that escaped from two tanks in a small Portuguese city that I’m not even going to try to pronounce. (São Lourenço do Bairro)
The large amount of wine was being stored at the distillery through the government's "crisis distillation" program, which aims to use incentive funds to remove a glut of wine from the market pipeline before this year's harvest.
Did you know that Portugal has the world's highest wine consumption rate per capita but the consumption is in a freefall (down 34%), citing inflation and other pressures. Large countries such as France and Germany are also seeing double-digit declines.
In America, not so much.
And that’s this week’s News Briefs.
