Sean Meloy was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended North Allegheny Senior High School, where he was active in student government, serving as student body president his senior year. After high school, Sean attended Pennsylvania State University, graduating in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in political science.
Career
After college, Sean began his career in politics and advocacy. He started out working for Pennsylvania Congressman Mike Doyle as a legislative assistant. In this role, Sean advised the Congressman on LGBTQ issues and helped draft legislation.
In 2008, Sean joined the campaign team for Barack Obama's presidential run. He helped organize and engage LGBTQ voters in Pennsylvania.
After Obama's victory, Sean was appointed Director of LGBTQ Engagement at the Democratic National Committee in 2009. He worked to further LGBTQ inclusion within the Democratic Party.
In 2012, Sean became the Vice President of Political Programs at LGBTQ Victory Fund. Through this role, Sean has helped recruit, train, and elect over 1,000 openly LGBTQ candidates across the United States. This has doubled LGBTQ representation over the last 5 years.
