What do Granny Clampett, Robert Diniro’s sperm and a former second lady of the United States have in common?  They’re all a part of this week’s News Briefs.

This week a United State Senator Representing the state of Tennessee,

Marsha “You Can Call Me Karen” Blackburn offered a solution to school shootings.  On Fox TV she said that grandparents could join a force of armed military vets and retired police officers to protect schools from shootings.

Yes – Granny get your gun!

She was promoting her SAFE Schools Act, which would supply $900 million to “harden schools” with more security.   This bill would provide fortress-like protection, including “bulletproof doors and the film on windows to the schools.  Nothing in this bill mentions any type of gun reform.

California Governor and man who looks like he plays presidents on TV,

Gavin Newsom, has called out Blackburn for voting against gun safety laws and accepting over $1 million in donations from the NRA.

Blackburn voted against the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, stating that the gun control bill “would erode Americans’ constitutional right to bear arms.”  The measure provides states to implement so-called red flag laws, which allow for the temporary confiscation of firearms from individuals who are deemed threats to themselves or others, as well as other crisis intervention programs.

But don’t worry,

Soon to be Octogenarian and Oscar winner Robert Diniro announced this week that he’s fathered his seventh child.   

It's not been confirmed who the baby mama is, but it is rumored he has been dating Tai Chi instructor Tiffany Chen

since they met on the set of his 2015 movie The Intern.

DiNiro is 79 years old and is the father of two children aged 51 and 46 from his first marriage, twin 27 year old sons from a former relationship, and a son 25, and daughter, 11 from his second wife.

The actor is making the rounds promoting his new film… and I kid you not…

Karen – my husband calls me Mother – Pence, and yes, Karen is her well-deserved first name, has a book that’s coming out in September and sure to hit the bargain bin by Halloween.

The book is called

When It’s Your Turn To Serve… Experiencing God’s Grace in His Calling for Your Life.

If God called Karen, it must’ve been a bad connection, because her beliefs aren’t very godlike.

You may recall that while holding the title of Second Lady, she taught at the Immanuel Christian School in Springfield, Virginia.  The school demands all employees and parents sign a pledge saying they condemn homosexuality and gender-nonconformity. It also demands parents sign an agreement that states their kids can be expelled if anyone in their family is caught “participating in, supporting, or condoning sexual immorality, homosexual activity or bi-sexual activity.”

You also may recall that during the pandemic, her husband, the Vice President, visited the Mayo Clinic

and was maskless.  When people started pointing this out she responded: “As our medical experts have told us, wearing a mask prevents you from spreading the disease,”  and knowing that he doesn’t have COVID-19, he didn’t wear one.”

The Mayo Clinic countered by assuring the public that the Vice President was aware of their policy that, just like everywhere else in the world, a mask was mandatory on their premises.

The Diocese of Oakland

has announced it is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in light of over 330 lawsuits alleging child sexual abuse. In a press release, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Oakland says that the lawsuits have come after a new California statute allows claims that have expired to be filed.

Many fear that this is a ploy to avoid paying restitution to the Church’s victims.

Spencer Lucas,

an attorney for 20 survivors says, "This is not a get-out-of-jail-free card, the diocese will be forced to put up significant financial compensation and we hope the diocese will disclose assets and how mistakes on behalf of children were made."

In March, the Diocese of Santa Rosa filed for bankruptcy, citing lawsuits from more than 200 survivors of child sexual abuse by Catholic priests.

I don’t know of any gay bars or drag shows that have had to file bankruptcies under similar conditions.  Do you?

A former nurse at an all-boys Catholic high school in St. Louis was charged with multiple sex crimes after allegations of inappropriate conduct with a student.

Erin Foerstel

was charged with two felonies:  one count of second degree statutory sodomy and one count of sexual contact with a student.

According to charging documents, Foerstel performed oral sex on a a student under the age of 17 earlier this year.  Foerstel has made a full confession.

Kids are safer at Drag Story hour, don’t ya think?

Michael Zacharias

was on trial this week in Ohio charged on one count of sex trafficking of a minor, two counts of sex trafficking of a minor by force, fraud or coercion, and seven counts of sex trafficking of an adult by force, fraud or coercion while he was a priest.

Three men testified during the trial’s first five days that Zacharias groomed them for sexual activity when they were minors.

A former student testified that the former priest began cultivating a relationship when the boy was in eighth grade.

And it’s Drag Queens doing the grooming?

Amber’s Rant

This week Governor and a little man with big ambitions Ron Desantis of Florida

signed SB 1580 which allows health care providers and insurance companies to deny care or reimbursement for care if it opposes their ethical beliefs. Advocates for LGBTQ+ and women’s health care worry that the law will give physicians and providers legal protections to discriminate against patients.

So, if this law was in effect back in 2016 at the time of the Pulse massacre where 49 people were slaughtered and another 53 were wounded, doctors at those Orlando hospitals could have said – “not touching those fags.” And more people could have died.

This man wants to be president.

While I do believe he is going to self-destruct before 2024, there are others watching and figuring out how they can do what he wants to, but with a more palatable message.

My rant?  Stop him.  Stop them. We must call them out for the bigots they are.
